Investigating the Mediating role of Moral Sensitivity in the Relationship between Moral Identity and Academic Dishonesty of Yasouj University Students

Abstract

Aim: The purpose of this research was to investigate the mediating role of moral sensitivity in the relationship between moral identity and academic dishonesty of Yasouj University students.
Method: The statistical population of the present study included all students of Yasouj University, and a sample of 365 people was selected from this population by multi-stage random cluster sampling, and the academic dishonesty questionnaires of McCabe and Trevino (1996), Narvaez's moral sensitivity (2001) and Aquino and Reed's (2002) moral identity were distributed among the sample. Evaluation of the proposed model was done using path analysis. The findings showed that the proposed model has a good fit with the data.
Findings: The findings showed that the proposed model has a good fit with the data. Regarding the direct effects, the findings showed that moral identity has a significant effect on academic dishonesty, moral identity has a significant effect on moral sensitivity, and moral sensitivity has a significant effect on academic dishonesty. Regarding the indirect path, the findings showed that moral sensitivity plays a mediating role in the relationship between moral identity and academic dishonesty.
Results: As a result, moral identity and moral sensitivity play an important role in reducing academic dishonesty.
